Terminal2e.info (2006)

ME 51 deals with the analysis of machine components when subjected to static and varying loads. The ideas presented in the course are easily applied to structures, which are basically machines which don't move (much). So, for this class I researched the failure of a prominent structure: Terminal 2E at Charles de Gaulle airport in France in May of 2004. I was able to find many quality articles and illustrations online, and even a short movie clip on the History Channel on this engineering failure. I collected and presented my findings on a website: ENGINEERING FAILURE: Charles de Gaulle Terminal 2E. For my efforts, I gained honors credit for the course. The website is still available at Terminal2e.info.
